Our Thematic Areas

1. Research and Knowledge Exchange

We generate, share, and apply evidence to address complex development challenges across the region. By integrating scientific research, indigenous knowledge, and community experiences, we promote learning that informs policy, practice, and sustainable solutions.

2. Inclusive Governance and Leadership

We strengthen institutions, leadership, and participatory decision-making processes that empower communities and promote accountability through inclusive democracy. We support inclusive systems that enable diverse voices, particularly those of women, youth, and marginalized groups, to shape development priorities.

3. Climate Action and Community Resilience

Climate change continues to intensify droughts, floods, environmental degradation, and resource competition across the Horn of Africa. We support locally led adaptation strategies that strengthen resilience, protect ecosystems, and improve sustainable management of natural resources.

4. Community Empowerment and Sustainable Livelihoods

We work with communities to co-create innovative and practical solutions that improve livelihoods, promote economic opportunities, and strengthen long-term wellbeing. We prioritize locally driven approaches that build existing assets, knowledge, and capacities.

5. Peacebuilding, Dialogue and Social Cohesion

Lasting development depends on peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies. We facilitate dialogue, strengthen relationships, and support collaborative approaches that foster trust, prevent conflict, and promote social cohesion.
