Our Programs
At Nikon Institute, our programmes are designed to generate knowledge, strengthen institutions, and drive sustainable development across Somalia and the Horn of Africa. Through research, policy engagement, capacity development, and strategic partnerships, we connect evidence with action to address complex development challenges. Our integrated approach fosters innovation, promotes informed decision-making, and creates lasting impact for governments, communities, and development partners.
Our core programmes include:
Research projects: We design and implement multidisciplinary and participatory research projects that generate evidence to inform policies, programmes, and community-driven solutions.
Inclusive Communities & Local Resilience: This is NIKON’s direct-impact arm. It ensures that vulnerable, marginalized, and grassroots communities are not just subjects of research, but active architects of their own economic and climate resilience.
Policy Dialogues and Briefs: We translate research findings into actionable recommendations and facilitate policy discussions that influence decision-making at local, national, and regional levels.
Partnerships and Collaboration: We build strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, governments, civil society organizations, and development partners to strengthen knowledge ecosystems.
Fellowships and Exchange Programmes: We support leadership development, professional exchanges, and cross-learning opportunities that enhance regional expertise and foster long-term collaboration.
