Who we are

Who we are

NIKON Institute is a nonprofit, non-governmental think tank established on 1 June 2024 and headquartered in Mogadishu, Somalia. We are dedicated to advancing sustainable development across Somalia and the wider East African region through evidence-based research, policy engagement, and practical, impact-driven programs.

As a forward-looking institution, we operate at the intersection of research, policy, and implementation—bridging the gap between knowledge and action. Our work focuses on addressing critical development challenges and unlocking opportunities across key sectors, including economic development, education transformation, governance and institutional reform, youth skills and employability, women’s entrepreneurship and leadership, and regional integration and trade.

NIKON Institute serves as a platform for collaboration, bringing together governments, private sector actors, civil society, academia, and development partners to co-create innovative and context-driven solutions. Through inclusive policy dialogue, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic partnerships, we support informed decision-making and strengthen institutional performance.

Our programs, including climate adaptation, policy reform initiatives, and professional training, are designed to build resilience, enhance skills, and promote inclusive growth. We are committed to empowering communities, fostering leadership, and creating opportunities that improve livelihoods and drive long-term development.

Guided by a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, NIKON Institute strives to shape a future where knowledge informs policy, institutions are resilient, and development is both sustainable and equitable.
